Workshop Updates: Servicing, DCC Conversions & More Progress on the Layout
Another week, another update from the Platform Collectables workshop! We’ve had a steady stream of locos through for servicing and DCC conversions, while also making some good progress on my grandad’s layout restoration.
Workshop Roundup
This week, we had three trains in for a standard service and two booked in for DCC conversion. Everything went smoothly on the servicing front, and the conversions are now complete, ready for digital control. DCC really brings older models to life, and we always enjoy helping customers upgrade their layouts.
More Progress on My Grandad’s Layout
After last week’s first rough test run, we managed to get part of the second loop up and running! It’s always a great feeling seeing more of the track come to life, though there are still some connection issues with the outer track. It’s likely down to some dirty or loose connections, so we’ll keep plugging away until we get everything running smoothly.
While sorting through some of the layout’s storage, we also uncovered a whole box of points—some useful, some needing a bit of TLC. Once we’ve sorted through them, they’ll hopefully help shape future track plans.
Charity Challenge Update – 77,000 Steps and Counting!
We’re making great progress on our March the Month challenge in support of Prostate Cancer UK, with 77,000 steps completed so far! There’s still plenty of walking to go, but it’s a solid start. We’re also working on raising more funds, so if you’d like to support a great cause, you can find the donation link on our Facebook page.
That’s all for this week—if you’re looking for model train servicing, repairs, or DCC conversions, feel free to get in touch. And as always, we’ll be back next week with more updates!
